TVNZ's Oriini Kaipara has presented 1 NEWS' Midday bulletin, completing a lifelong dream to present the news for the mainstream bulletin. 

Kaipara presents TVNZ 1's Te Karere news bulletin and wears a moko kauae. 

According to 1 NEWS, Kaipara is believed to be one of the first people to present a mainstream news bulletin with a moko kauae.

TVNZ 1 posted a photo of Kaipara to their social media accounts to a hugely positive response. 

One person said: "Just looking at this photo you can see she has a beautiful wairua about her", while another hoped that it wouldn't be the last time Kaipara hosted the news, saying that: "I hope it WILL be everyday! Ka rawe Oriini ❤️ And you too TVNZ for making this epic and historic mark in mainstream media history. "

Kaipara, who has previously worked at Māori Television, also took to Facebook to shared her excitement. She said: "This is for US. ALL OF US". "I’ll be the one with the moko kauae ... the only one in the world" she continued.
