This cheeky, bestselling children's book, written by Dawn McMillan and illustrated by Ross Kinnaird, has previously been translated into Chinese, Italian, Korean and Portuguese and now a new translation will 'bring the bum home’ to Aotearoa.
Marking ten years since the first publication of I Need a New Bum!, and Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2022, this bilingual edition is available now!
All of the colourful main text is in Māori, following the hero as he searches for a tou hou (new bum), after finding that his one has a crack. There are also 'Subtitles' in English running along the bottom of the pages.
Translator Stephanie Fong, began translating the bestseller after her tamariki pleaded for a version the book in te reo. She worked alongside Dawn McMillan to ensure that the story maintained the essence of the story, as well as the rhyming structure that makes it such a fun book to read.
