During their performance at the Auckland Town Hall last night, Sol3 Mio's Pene Pati broke down on stage while performing a song dedicated to the victims of the Christchurch terror attack.
Pati - who is married to Egyptian-born soprano singer Amina Edris - revealed over the weekend his uncle-in-law was one of the people shot during the horrific massacre.
It is not clear what the uncle-in-law's condition is.
Singing their own rendition of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah', the opera singer was captured shedding tears for the victims, before losing his voice with grief.
Throughout the moving moment, the crowd can be heard cheering Pati on while singing along with the 30-year-old.
"It was a very powerful moment," said Sam Wallace, who was attending the concert with his mother.
Addressing the attack in a post on Facebook, Pati told viewers, with anguish in his voice: "This is not New Zealand and violence has no place here."
At their concert in Palmerston North on Friday, the opera trio also sang an emotionally charged rendition of Coldplay's 'Fix You'.
Pati - unable to contain his grief - was seen being comforted by his fellow singers on stage.
In an earlier social media post, the singer said: "My wife cries from the other side of the world today as her uncle is one of the injured (still waiting on hospital whether he has survived or not) in the incident today in Christchurch."
"My heart breaks. Tonight. What have we come to? I feel completely powerless and I refuse to believe the news. Tonight, I will sing for my people in Christchurch. This is not us.
"We are not violent people. This has NO place in Aotearoa. In my solitude on stage, I will have you in my thoughts and may my voice console you. I am truly heartbroken. Come together, NZ."
The shootings, which occurred on Friday, have left 50 dead and more than 30 still in hospital.
