The BeyoncéxBalmain capsule collection has bought attention to the achievements a collaboration of high-end fashion and an influential music platform can make.
Beyoncé and her entire onstage presence at the Coachella festival showcased the college-themed ensemble, comprised of a yellow and pink sweatshirt and a since included black tee with the same sorority-inspired graphic.
The decision to release it to the public, enabled the goal of funding the impressive work of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). The funds raised will support African-American youth attend college, thrive and graduate.
Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing expresses that the collection is a collaboration of their inspiration they received from the signature spirit and legacy of America’s historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and their home-coming experience.
Atop of the collaboration proceeds, Beyoncé donated $100,000 USD to the four historically black colleges re-enforcing the main goal of the collaboration.
