Israel Adesanya pays tribute to Nipsey Hussle after lifting UFC title

Israel Adesanya has paid tribute to rapper Nipsey Hussle in a social media post following his UFC title win.

The fighter posted a quote from the rapper alongside a group of photos from the fight.

Adesanya's win in Atlanta makes him the UFC's new interim middleweight champion. It came after a violent unanimous decision win over American Kelvin Gastelum.

A dominant fifth round performance from Adesanya saw him clinch the fight, with each judge scoring the fight 48-46.

The battle saw both fighters pocket an extra US$50,000 bonus, taking out fight of the night honours alongside the main event in which Dustin Poirier beat Max Holloway to win the interim lightweight title.

Nipsey Hussle passed away on 31 March after a drive-by shooting outside his clothing store in Los Angeles.

Tributes have flown in from around the world from everyone imaginable including the likes of Drake, Kevin Hart and Rihanna.
