Last week New Zealand lost arguably one of the biggest names in New Zealand reggae. Carl Perkins, member of Herbs and founder of House of Shem passed away after an incredible battle with cancer.

As well as being a musician Perkins was an āpotoro wairua (a lay reader or spiritual counsellor) of the Rātana Church.
