If you missed this oiled up shirtless Tongan at the Olympics opening ceremony on Friday night you can see the pictures for yourself here.

Pita Taufatofua the 32 year old taekwondo competitor told Today "I was walking through the opening ceremony, and someone came up to me, they were just taking photos nonstop, and they said to me, 'You know you're trending on Twitter in every major country?'" he told the co-hosts. "Once I had a look, it had just gone everywhere."

And now we have everything you need to know about Pita:

1. Tonga isn't his actual birthplace.

Pita was raised in Tonga but the Olympian was born in Australia where his mother is from. "He chose to represent Tonga and the Pacific to show to the world that even the smallest voice needs to be heard," his fundraising page reads. "It's not about the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog!"

2. This isn't the first time he's tried to become an Olympian.

Pita has tried twice before finally qualifying this year! And he is the first competitor from Tonga to participate in Taekwondo.

3. He makes money off his looks.

Turns out Pita has been making money of his good looks and fit body since he was a teenager appearing in a campaign for UGG Australia.

4. He's been raising money for this moment.

Pita came from a very poor family so it has taken a lot of hard work and dedication for him to get to the Olympics. He ended up raising over $8,800 to fund his trip to the Olympics.

5. He's a strong advocate for kids.

When Pita isn't training he spends his spare time with underprivileged and homeless kids. "Amazing experience helping teach over 100 local Thai kids here at Sabai Sabai resort Thailand! Dan and the team have done an unbeatable job here, teaching for Free all the local kids to help improve their lives and give them access to Taekwondo," he captioned a shot of himself with lots of young students.

6. He has a college degree.

Pits isn't just athletic but smart too, he studied engineering and had almost completed his masters degree.

Great day on the set of @todayshow with @adrianalima ! #brazil #tonga
