Australian Actor Hugh Jackman gets emotional over Haka performance

Australian performer Hugh Jackman was visibly emotional after a group of Kiwi Uni students performed a Haka for him.

While visiting AUT University at the Manukau Campus in Auckland with his Greatest Showman co-star Keala Settle, were left blown away after a haka was performed for them by the University Choir.

The haka – which took place after Hugh and Keala both performed with the chorus of students who went viral last year for their performance of the Oscar-nominated song This Is Me - was captured on video along with a heartfelt speech from the Wolverine actor.

"It’s been an incredibly emotional day," Hugh admitted, "I’ve been to many many places, [but] today’s one profound, that I’ll never forget."

Both Huge and Keala – whose family has Māori roots in New Zealand – were gifted pounamu necklaces, which they were both clearly honoured to receive, with Hugh getting visibly emotional as he thanked the University students.

Hugh also joked that he wanted to take 50 of the talented University students away to join his upcoming live tour The Man. The Music. The Show. which is set to hit New Zealand on September 6 and 7 at Auckland’s Spark Arena.
