Workplace Death In South Auckland

The man who died in a workplace accident in South Auckland on Wednesday has been named.

John Douglas Howe, 54, died at Davies Logistics - which operates Davies International Freight - on Aintree Ave shortly before 3pm.

A police officer at the scene said police believed the man was struck by a truck in the driveway and killed.

Officers had a clear idea of what might have happened but it would not be right to release that until it was confirmed, he said.

Staff at Davies Logistics were "shaken up" after the incident, he said.

The police serious crash unit and WorkSafe New Zealand were investigating.
