A ride at Rainbows End was stopped leaving the riders hanging upside down because they were spitting.
It was originally thought the ride had malfunctioned however the theme park has tweeted saying there was no mechanical issue with the ride just that riders weren't complying with staff requests.
@NZStuff The ride did not malfunction, was stopped mid-cycle and lowered manually due to children spitting, having ignored previous warnings

Rainbow's End chief executive Chris Deere said the ride was stopped and children were lowered manually from the ride after they had ignored a request by the operator over a public address system for them to stop spitting.
The students rumoured to be from St Peters College were at the theme park for the first day of "Activity Week" following exams.
